China is one of the leading coffee producers

Beijing – China is producing a coffee named “ arabica “, and has ambition to become one of the biggest producers of coffee, along with the countries of Latin America.

Chinese "Arabic" grows mainly in the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan where tea plants grow best in the country, according to the French newspaper “ Le Figaro ”.

In the late 1980s, Chinese authorities decided to support the production in China.
With the growth of production of coffee, people started to consume it more then ever, and we all know that China is mostly known as a producer of tea, while coffee was consumed every now and then, very rarely.

The consumption of coffee in China from 1998 to 2012 increased from 199,000 to 1.1 million bags.
The biggest producer of coffee “ arabica “ in the world is of course Brazil, and their annual production is around 51.2 million bags.
The second place goes to Chile with annual production of 12.5 million bags.
These two countries control 50 percent of worldwide production of coffee.

The largest producer in the world of “ less popular “ type of coffee " robusta " is Vietnam with annual production of 29.3 million bags.
China has the intention to double their production, because it is getting more popular there. The problem is, as experts say, that they need to improve the quality not only quantity, if they want to be one of the best.

We hope they will manage to do that.
